This time I'd like to introduce the FinePix Z33WP, a compact digital camera born in 2009.

If I had to describe the FinePix Z33WP in a word, it's a camera you can take anywhere without any fuss. True to its tagline at the time, "a compact, lightweight waterproof digital camera" (as of its announcement), it combines a rounded, pop design with waterproof and dustproof performance down to a depth of 3m.

1. Honest Color Reproduction and Depth

Colors such as the red uniforms, the blue crane, and the blue of the signs are very honest and vivid. You get the rich yet clear color typical of digicams from the CCD sensor era.

In daytime snapshots, it excels at crisp, clear photos with strong contrast. Making use of the waterproofing to shoot wet streets on rainy days should produce even more interesting textures.

2. Capturing the Motion of Everyday Life

The relatively low ISO setting and shutter speed give the walking figures a moderate amount of subject blur. This not-too-perfect rendering elevates an ordinary everyday moment into a dramatic snapshot.

Whether on the move while traveling or in a casual street-corner snap, you end up with photos that feel more like memories than records, compared with shooting on a smartphone.
