Hello! Today I'd like to introduce a classic that still has plenty of fans who ask for it by name when they want a snapshot camera:RICOH CX6 .

With this model, the last in Ricoh's CX series, I headed out into Shinjuku at night.

1. A 0.1-Second Shock: The Evolved "Hybrid AF"

The CX6's greatest weapon is the overwhelming focus speed of Ricoh's own "Hybrid AF system."

On a night street corner, even with bicycles and pedestrians moving unpredictably, focus snaps into place the instant you half-press the shutter button. The speed is as quick as roughly 0.1 seconds. This lack of hesitation is what gives you the greatest sense of security when shooting snapshots.

2. Capturing the Texture of Signs Glowing in the Dark

The CX6 renders night scenes a little differently, too. Its back-illuminated CMOS sensor and Ricoh's own image processing engine render the warm light of neon signs and paper lanterns with realistic texture, without blowing out the highlights too much.

Especially handy for night photography is the manual exposure (A/S mode). The CX6 was the first in the CX series to offer proper exposure control, and it answers the urge to express "your own night" instead of leaving everything up to the camera.

3. "Step Zoom" Turns Your Intent Into an Image Instantly

"Step Zoom" will be familiar to Ricoh fans. This feature lets you fix the zoom range at 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and so on, as if swapping prime lenses, which makes it ideal for training your sense of angle of view when shooting snapshots. The telephoto end reaches 280mm, so pulling a distant neon sign in close and framing it is no problem at all.

4. A "High-Resolution Monitor" That Makes Shooting Fun

The rear LCD is very high-resolution at 1.23 million dots. While shooting at night, the moment you preview a shot you think, "Oh, that's beautiful." This kind of craftsmanship that lifts the user's motivation is just what you'd expect from Ricoh.
